Charity, as ever Freemason knows this is at the very core of our society and at Woodford Lodge, it is no different charity is at the very heart of our lodge.

Our tradition at Woodford Lodge is that we hope to build & maintain charitable funds to support both those local charities dear to our hearts whilst being able to support Metropolitan Appeals when announced.

Although we are a small lodge, we do all we can at our meetings to promote and collect for charity, this includes an Alms collection as well as a raffle at the festive board.

At Woodford Lodge, we like to think we are a progressive lodge, and as such when it comes to the alms collection, we use the QR code method for collecting Alms, which we have printed on the summons as well as on dedicated cards put out at the festive board. This makes it by far the easiest method of collecting, with the monies raised going straight to the Masonic Charitable Foundation Relief Chest. Although the treasurer does not know how much Alms collected until the next meeting, see our QR code below, give it a go and donate, it will make you feel better, and we urge all those that donate to tick the gift aid box.

Clearly, for those who wish to use the envelope to donate we still hold a supply of these.

We also hold a raffle at every festive board with a variety of prizes, from the normal bottles and chocolates to books, jigsaw puzzles, ties as well as free-range eggs and home grown vegetables and a new addition of a homemade cake.

It has become our tradition to support Lifelites with the proceeds of our ‘Bumper Christmas Raffle’ with all the proceeds of our Christmas raffle going to the appeal which we have donated to for the last couple of years and we hope to continue this in the future.

All appeals from Grand and Metropolitan Lodge are discussed and voted on in open lodge and where possible a charitable donation given, most recently the London Fire Brigade appeal for the new tenders with extended ladder systems, and in the past the Air Ambulance appeal.

Most recently, in 2022/3, we have voted on and have donated to or will be donating to the following:-

Lifelites, Bringing joy to children and young people with life-limiting conditions.

Alzheimer’s Society, in memory of our Worshipful Brother Anthony House, and past Charity Steward.

Turkish & Syrian earthquake disaster.

The current 2023 Met London Air Ambulance Appeal, &, https://www.londonmasons.org.uk/charity

Annually we also send Christmas cheques to our lodge widows along with a card wishing them well, and just to say thank you, and if they need us, we are there to assist if possible.

And a little closer to home we send out flowers, cards to the our own members and their families to either say thank you for helping our lodge or if we know that they have been under the weather and need a small pick me up.

Please use Woodford Lodge and L3903 in the fields and please tick the Gift Aid box.

Charity does not just stop at the festive board and alms collections, we also hold Ladies Festivals where we not only invite friends and family but also those that may be interested in joining us on our journey through masonry. These events being a great night or two away from home are also a brilliant way to raise funds for a specific cause or charity, and our last one in 2019 raised funds for the St. Ives School Association (SISA), Charity No 1094653, https://www.stivesprimary.com/.

Also we would like to direct you to the Masonic Charitable Foundation impact report to show where some of the wider funding goes.
