What is membership, well according to the dictionary it is the fact of being a member of a group, but being a Freemason is much more than just being a member of a group, and it will mean different things to each one of you, and at its heart is Integrity, Friendship, Respect and Charity.
By being a member of the ancient order of Freemasons, you are also a brother amongst brothers and a friend to all within the craft, all over the world.
That said Freemasonry is not for all and we appreciate that people will have varying opinions about the craft and we respect this, even though some of the stories are a little far-fetched, but make for great reading and movies.
Membership is everything to a voluntary organization, and a Freemason’s lodge, as a voluntary organisation, is only as strong as its membership. And like most organizations Freemasonry is always looking for new members, as we plan for the future, to this end the UGLE is actively promoting Freemasonry, within the organisation and externally, with programs such as the “#ImAMason” on twitter
If you require any information on joining or on Freemasonry, in general please contact the lodge membership officer via the contact page, use the various links within this website.
Not every lodge works for everyone that joins Freemasonry but I am sure there is a lodge that works for you.
Lodges come in all shapes and sizes, some are made with a specific reason or idea in mind, say to promote a particular club or sport, and there charitable work goes into related items around this.
Not all lodges are dedicated to anything in particular, and many are happy to support different causes that pass their way via their membership, but all lodges support the UGLE with its Charitable Fund, this being the second largest charitable organisation in Britain, second only to the national lottery.
This is at the very heart of being a Freemason, no matter what size of the lodge they belong to a Freemason is part of a much larger group of Freemasons under the umbrella of the UGLE. So for the Woodford Lodge members please be mindful and promote our lodge whenever you can, but respect others views.
